The National University of Samoa Student Association (nussa) kicks off their semester two
programme and activities with its interfaculty sevens tournament which started last week.
NUSSA President, Jerry Matamu said that sport was the most participated activity for
NUSSA last semester, which attract many students.


8 teams are vying for the title which include teams from the Faculty of Arts(FOA), Faculty of
Education(FOE), faculty of Health Science (FOAS) Faculty of Business and
Entrepreneurship (FOBE), Center for Samoan Studies (CSS), School of maritime training,
Faculty OF Technical and education (FOTE)and the team from Faculty of Science (FOS).

Mr. Matamu said The tournament is to develop the skills and chances of players who may
wish to play in higher level tournaments like the super 9 and the Manu Samoa 7’s and 15’s.


Vaifagaloa Mamoe, a student from the Faculty of Arts, who was selected in the Samoa A
squad said this is a great opportunity for players to develop and nurture their rugby talents,
and moreso for players who are not doing so well academically.


Fiti Sefika, a player from the team of Faculty of Business and Entrepreneurship said sports
and recreation specially rugby is the other part of learning and school thats why this
tournament is important for students of NUS to improve their chances into our Manu Samoa
teams.


The tournament is divided in pools A and B, and is expected to run for two weeks.
